Barry Boffy

Barry is an award-winning inclusion, equity and diversity thought leader with a history of working in the policing and criminal justice sector, winning the ‘Public Sector Champion Award’ at the Inclusive Companies Awards in 2018. He is a passionate advocate for victim rights and for a kinder, fairer and more inclusive world for all.
He is a confident and experienced keynote and public speaker who believes in working collaboratively across industry as a way of sharing best practice, using a human-centred approach to enhancing employee experience.
He is a passionate believer in the power of Employee Resource Groups and a fierce ally and advocate; amplifying the voices of those from under-represented, seldom heard or otherwise marginalised or minoritised backgrounds.
Barry's previous experience includes:
Barry held the role of Head of Inclusion & Diversity for British Transport Police (BTP) until March 2022, leaving after 15 years’ service. As Head of Inclusion & Diversity his role was to lead the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
In addition to FAIRER Consulting:
- Barry joined Tell MAMA’s London Advisory Board (2016-2011), becoming their first sitting non-Muslim Chair
- He has campaigned tirelessly for better diversity and inclusion practices in policing and has been a Judge for the National No2H8 Crime Awards since 2017
- In 2019, Barry joined the Board of Directors at the Institute of Equality & Diversity Professionals (IEDP) and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in 2022 for his work in the field
- He joined the Board of Directors for Faith Matters Europe in April 2022 to advise on their work in bringing faith communities together across Europe
- In 2022, Barry joined the Advisory Board of The Donaldson Trust, a charity supporting neurodivergent people throughout Scotland
- He is proud to be a Certified Pride365 Champion and an advocate for Pride Life Global. He was awarded the Highly Commended Julie Barnes Frank Award for LGBT+ Policing in 2018.
- Barry was featured in the ‘Top 100 Global Inspirational Diversity & Inclusion Leaders’ list in 2021 and was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in HM the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2022 for services to diversity in policing.
